Norway: 1200 e-Golf sold in 3.5 hours

http://www.dinside.no/927363/paa-3-5...r-av-el-golfen

1200 orders were closed in 3.5 hours. Now it goes without saying that a lot of these are pre-orders that were officially recorded today. But seeing as the price was also released today, that could also indicate that a lot of people were just waiting for the pricing.

Due to the very attractive incentives of no taxes, no vat, no parking fees, no toll fees and a lower yearly tax, electric cars are extremely popular there.

Starting at NOK 251.000,- it's matching the very cheapest fossil-fuel-running Golf, the Golf Trendline 1.2 85 hp TSI.

FYI: For January 2014, VW sold 780 Golfs in Norway.

I also predict the Golf GTE to be a good seller in Norway as it will have very low taxes compared to the GTI.

It doesn't surprise me that much that the e-Golf is popular in Norway. Isn't the Tesla Model S the most popular car in Norway? I think that they have substantial subsidies for electric cars.

Cali and Florida, and maybe some other markets, basically anywhere EV's are sold initially.

I'm sure California would be a good market to sell in. They love EVs. I think that we will start to see EVs only sold in particular markets and excluded from others.

Having a car sell well in Norway I don't think is a reason to start selling the car in NA though. Only California, and maybe New York.

Do you think that VW is considering bring it to just particular states, or are they just foregoing the USA altogether? It would be nice to have some way of getting a Golf GTE in the US, even if it were only a select states.
