Volkswagen Golf GTE Claims To Deliver ___ MPGe

Taking from Audi's A3 E-Tron set up that the Golf GTE will be sharing, It has been mentioned that the dynamic duo producing more torque than ANY OTHER plug in hybrid currently available. The Hatch will be getting up to 31 miles on pure electric and 158 MPGe with the combined output.

Yes... 158 MPGe

Quite a sipper isn't she. To be honest I don't believe in solid numbers until I dig in to my gas receipt pile at the the end of the year to believe that she actually saved me some money. On those fancy black and white EPA sheet stickers they should really include your mileage may vary in BOLD.

it wouldn't be a bad idea to start building charging stations every 100 miles since they aren't exactly plentiful at th moment.

The combined economy is officially rated at 188.3mpg with CO2 emissions at 35g/km. The GTE can run on battery power alone for 31 miles at speeds of up to 81mph

188.3 is the number

Since it's a plugin EV though, technically your MPG could be infinite if you never exceed the pure-electric range of 30 miles.

Measured on the European combined economy cycle, this Golf pairs strong performance with 156 mpg economy and low CO2 emissions.

Not quite sure who to go with. Just over the weekend I am seeing three different number from other sites.

Regardless if it is 155 or 188, the take away is that MPG will be ridiculous!!! It totally will be dependent on how far you drive day to day because it has to do with the range of the electric motor.

How much do you think the Golf GTE will be sold for?

I think I have it figured out. European MPGs are calculated differently than North America. To get a US MPG from a European you simply multiply the number by .83.

SO

188.3 x .83= 156.28 MPG.

If you see 188 MPG assume its been Euro sourced.

not true, that 156 MPG figure factors in depletion and recharging of the battery throughout one full tank cycle.

This is only true if the gas engine is used.

If you never exceed the pure electric range, then no gasoline is ever used, hence the infinite MPG claim.

It's also worth noting that the wheel-to-well efficiency of electric power compares favorably to conventional fossil fuels.
